The weather conditions during the 2010 vine cycle were marked by heavy rainfall in spring, followed by frost on May 3, which caused damage in several areas of the appellation. In June, there were outbreaks of downy mildew in some vineyards. There was then severe drought which completed a vine cycle that had required painstaking work in the vineyards. The harvest began on 6th September at the O Moullón estate and finished on the 18th. The size of the Mencía crop was 20% down on normal volume in Valdeorras. The 2010 Valderroa reflects the characteristics of an austere vintage with the fruity, fresh character of the Atlantic Mencía coming to the fore.
